About Us

Lighthouse Futures Trust was registered in 2011 by a group of five parents who had struggled to find the supportive learning environment their children required. Together, they founded the first free school in the UK for those with an autistic spectrum condition and/or learning disability aged 11-19. At the heart of what they do lies the ethos "everyone deserves to find their place in society”.

The charity now also creates employment programmes and opportunities for young people aged 16-25 with an autistic spectrum condition and /or learning disability. They have grown to be known nationally for their high-quality employability programmes - delivering positive outcomes for students once they leave full-time education.

Lighthouse Futures Trust's internship programmes provide training for employers as well as students, enabling them to be disability confident and removing the uncertainty around employing someone with autism or disabilities. The charity also runs three social enterprise businesses of their own, where students can gain valuable work experience before embarking on a supported internship.
